Community

A community you build by turning up

Mirth is not a feed or a chat app. It is a members' organisation built around doing things together, with the same people, often enough that they become your people.

Crews

Six to eight people who choose each other

After every event each person marks who they would go again with. When yeses are mutual across two or three shared events, those people become a crew. The crew gets first refusal on the next slot, so the people you clicked with are the people you see again.

Crews meet at least twice a month in their city's suggested slots, for example a walk on the 1st and 3rd Saturday and a social on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday. Regular slots keep a crew together; scattered dates pull it apart.

The most important message in the product

“5 of your group want to go again with you.”

People underestimate how much others liked them. So after each event you see the count of people who want to see you again. Never who said no.

Rituals

Small traditions, repeated

  • A name round and a plan brief

Every event starts the same way, so nobody has to break the ice alone.

  • The same mid-point stop

A cafe on the walk, a break at the social. Small repeated moments are what people remember.

  • Your crew names itself

After its third outing. Crew names stay with the crew.

  • Milestones

5, 10 and 25 events, and the first one you hosted.

  • Light conversation cards

Hosts bring a few prompts for the quiet moments.

  • A yearly chapter event

Every crew in the city in one place, once a year.

No feed, no open chat

Each event has a logistics chat that opens 72 hours before and closes 48 hours after. Your crew space always points to the next plan.

Hosts are members

Every event is created and hosted by a member. Any verified member can apply to host; hosts accept host terms, declare qualifications for harder activities and are rated by the people who come.

Graduation is a win

If your crew starts meeting on its own, that is the point. We will ask you to bring a friend, and offer you a place as a host.
